He is a director, investor and adviser to several payments companies and works with the UK angel and VC investment community to help them access the rising stars of the payments industry. He conceived and launched the Global Prepaid Exchange and Gx in 2004, and the Emerging Payments Association (EPA) in 2012, of which he is Director General. The EPA advances payment innovation for its 100+ members that include the likes of MasterCard, Vocalink, Amazon, Samsung Pay, and Fiserv.

As Digital Director of business news publisher City A.M. Martin Ashplant oversaw the rollout of the first ad blocker blocker at a UK newspaper in October 2015. Having joined City A.M. in May 2014 he has built a digital team that has seen a tripling of audience and been shortlisted for best content team of 2015 at the British Media Awards.
