Russell is the chief executive of Balancing Act, a consultancy and online publishing company specialising in telecoms, internet and broadcast in Africa. His most recent consultancy work has included: an assessment of the Pay-TV market in Africa; an appraisal of an investment in a wireless broadband operator; the implementation of an African internet Exchange Point; an assessment of investment finance options for African telecoms and internet infrastructure; a study of telecommunications infrastructure and development initiatives and projects in Southern and East Africa and a study on Open Access models. He is the co-author of a number of publications, including African Satellite Markets, African VoIP Markets and African Broadcast Markets. Russell has recently helped two global ICT brands with their strategy in relation to Africa. He started working in Africa because he was interested in how the world might change over the next ten years.
