He joined HarperCollins in 2008 as Group Digital Director of HarperCollins UK, a role in which he pioneered HarperCollins’ industry-leading digital activity across a range of activities. During this time, the author community website authonomy.com won a Bookseller Industry Award for Digital Innovation in 2010. In 2009, he was promoted to run the global digital programme as Executive Vice President, Chief Digital Officer, based in HarperCollins’ head office in New York. Charlie joined HarperCollins from News Corp’s BSkyB, where he was Head of Commercial Partnerships for the Sky Online Business Unit. Prior to that, he worked in advertising and marketing, founding and running the media buying company RCL Communications and big screen entertainment business Blink TV, before launching leading UK teen Internet company Mykindaplace Ltd in 2000, which he sold to BSkyB in 2006.
