There are many podcasts focused on the Sky Bet Championship previewing its action week by week and some reviewing the action following each game week, but which are the best?
The Second Tier
‘The Second Tier’ Podcast is hosted by Ryan Dilks and Justin Peach and they provide informal discussion on anything and everything Championship.
With the schedule being so busy currently, they often host two shows a week, one looking into the midweek results and another offering their insight going into the weekend games.
Dilks and Peach provide a casual insight into the league making it easy to keep on with the goings on in the division without draining the consumer with constant statistics.
Their pods usually discuss the upcoming fixtures, big results and the best/worst teams in the league. Expect Sheffield United to be getting a lot of praise this season – the Blades are the favourites for the league title in the EFL Championship betting odds at 9/5, closely followed by recently-relegated Norwich City at 10/3.
‘The Second Tier’ podcast offers unique and bold opinions you are unlikely to hear elsewhere and is an excellent option to provide a balance of informative Championship tips and light-hearted content.
What the EFL
The What the EFL podcast is one that perhaps does not receive mainstream support, but it offers insight into the entirety of the Football League besides just the Championship.
Matt Davies-Adams is joined by EFL experts Adrian Clarke and Sam Parkin, and overall this is a very different type of podcast that offers thoroughly informed opinions and offers more statistics and facts surrounding major talking points.
Episodes are limited to one per week, in which the most topical teams and results are spoken about; and in some editions, there are even guest speakers – former Queens Park Rangers man Jamie Mackie has already appeared in this series.

The podcast offers statistical insight into players’ and teams’ performances and even scouting reports to look at potential upcoming players that could be due a Premier League move.
‘What the EFL’ is an ideal podcast for a person wanting to actively learn more about the leagues rather than have a quick dose of entertainment.
It is filled with knowledge and with the addition of former footballers to also provide opinions, it is an excellent podcast series. If you want to get all the latest stats to impress your mates, this could be the podcast for you.
Not the Top 20
The ‘Not the Top 20’ podcast is a series that aims to bring attention to the other 72 clubs in the professional football pyramid that is overshadowed by the Premier League’s elite.
It has two hosts named George and Ali who offer another informal podcast, in which they treat themselves like fans and do not go too in-depth on statistics.

They focus on the major talking points, like the latest EFL transfer news, and offer unique opinions on them. The podcast includes segments dedicated to picking out some of the best bets for upcoming games coming up.
The podcast flows casually and runs like two friends having a conversation about the sport they love, it is perfect for an average fan who perhaps does not hear much about the lower leagues or even for a seasoned fan to hear some differing opinions about what they consume elsewhere.
