Nigel Gifford
Founder and Chairman of Windhorse Aerospace
Nigel Gifford OBE CP Eng.(Aero) Chairman / Founder Windhorse Aerospace Nigel is best described as an eclectic solutions architect ~ drawing on skills, practical experience, and research acquired at different times of his life. It is from his aeronautical, skydiving and catering background he conceived the Pouncer(tm) food carrying AV that is also made of edible components. Presently, using his specialist knowledge in feeding in non-human environments, Nigel is working to get Pouncer(tm) into service with his team, and is working in the critical food technology area to ensure that the food cargo and edible structure are fit for purpose on deployment as first response into disaster areas Biography Brought up in a busy restaurant, and then trained as a chef at the Army School of Catering, Nigel has extensive knowledge of differing styles of cuisine. This includes feeding explorers and adventurers in remote and hostile environments, as well as cooking at 26,000ft on Mt Everest in 1976. He wrote the present Royal Geographical Society catering manual and his advice is still sought for extreme expeditions. As an aerospace solutions architect Nigel has designed equipment for UK Special Forces, and built protective equipment housings for the RAF Tornado. In 1991 he designed a special camera platform for the first ever hot air balloon flight at 33,000ft over Mt Everest and worked on Sir Richard Branson’s round the world balloon project advising on the small capsule’s internal ergonomic layout, feeding, and the living routines for the crew confined inside. Prior to Windhorse, he was Managing Director of the Ascenta™ – The high-altitude, long-endurance, unmanned aerial vehicle acquired by Facebook in 2014 to provide Internet access into the developing world. The aircraft has since been renamed Aquila by Facebook.

Mark Miles
Founder and Managing Creative Director of Rendermedia
Mark Miles began his career using 3D Studio for the DOS platform 1994, where the idea of a 3D environment in which to play and explore was fascinating. His career has spanned educational computer software and television, with contributions on projects in the educational arena earning BAFTA nominations and a BAFTA Award. The idea of taking higher-end CGI (more traditionally used in Film, TV and Games) was a genesis for launching a studio that focused on B2B in bringing businesses to life. Today, with 18 years heritage in CGI, Mark and his business partner Nadine head up Rendermedia, a Virtual & Augmented Reality Studio serving UK FT100 and FT250 with global operations bringing their business to life across AR, VR and Real-time applications. Made up of CG Artists, filmmakers, sound designers, animators and developers, Rendermedia supports global businesses in developing tools that are used across the entire operational structure of the client’s business. Mark’s team works in both commercial applications and R&D, keeping them ahead of the curve and allowing them to provide cutting-edge solutions that utilise emerging technology.

David Heath
Founder & CEO of Cutitronics
David Heath is Founder & CEO of Cutitronics and is the very reason we are all here. He provides leadership, guidance and inspiration on a daily basis. David’s extensive academic career led him to qualify as a medical devices researcher with degrees in physics and engineering, working in a multidisciplinary clinical, commercial and engineering team. Throughout his PhD and post-doctoral research, he focussed on transdermal medical technology. But it was while presenting at a skincare conference that David had his “light bulb moment”, realising that the expertise he developed working on transdermal medical technology could be reapplied to solve some of the major challenges of the cosmetic skincare industry. And from here Cutitronics was born! David secured funding to develop technology for the cosmetic skincare industry and validate his innovation both technically and commercially. During this time, the company was spun out of the University of Strathclyde, receiving recognition from the Royal Society of Edinburgh, the Royal Academy of Engineering and ERA Foundation for both his entrepreneurial approach and outstanding technology innovation. In 2015 David began to recruit the Cutitronics team, bringing together the experience and expertise essential to launching such disruptive technology into the skincare market.
