Paul Race

Paul is Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry at the University of Bristol. From 2014-17 he served as Co-Director of the >£14M Bristol Centre for Synthetic Biology Research (BrisSynBio), was a founding Director of the Bristol BioDesign Institute (BBI) and is academic lead for the >£2.7M EPSRC funded ‘Manufacturing Immortality’ project. His research focuses on the exploitation and manipulation of biological complexes, pathways and networks, en-route to the development of new tools, technologies and products for biotechnology.

Steven Burston

Steve completed his PhD in physical biochemistry at the University of Bristol before being awarded a Prize Fellowship from the Wellcome Trust to work at Yale University and the University of London. He then returned to the University of Bristol where he is a Principal Investigator in the School of Biochemistry.

Martin Challand
CTO and Co-Founder of Zentraxa
Leads technology and product research and development. Martin has a master’s degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Chemical Biology, both from the University of Southampton and over 9 years R&D experience across academia and industry working at the interface of chemistry and biology. In 2015 he took up a post-doctoral research position in Synthetic Biology at the University of Bristol to lead the development of the Zentide technology and subsequently co-founded Zentraxa in 2017.

Alan Preece
Founder & Consultant of Micrima
Currently Emeritus Professor in the Department of Medical Physics at the University of Bristol and honorary Consultant Clinical Scientist with the United Bristol Healthcare Trust (UBHT). Previously Head of Biophysics Unit, Department of Medical Physics and Professor of Medical Physics, University of Bristol. Alan is a board member of the Bioelectromagnetics Society (USA) and the European Bioelectromagnetics Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine.
