Tell us about yourself?
I built and scaled data teams at companies like Just Eat, Notonthehighstreet and Zego.
During this time I saw that a lot of time consuming and expensive data processing tasks could be outsourced and automated to allow me to focus my teams on value add for customers instead of routine plumbing and repetitive tasks. We built Kleene to make that a reality for our customers.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
Your team make your business. Focus on supporting them more and obsess about bringing great people in and giving them the support and context needed to succeed.
What problem does your business solve?
Data is in siloes and it’s hard to get access to key insights to drive decisions. Today companies need expensive data engineers and complex bespoke solutions to be able to compete using their data.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
Our inspiration is all the execs we speak to who know the data they need exists but can’t get access to it and every company we see that wishes they could understand their customer better to improve their product offering.
We are for companies looking to build a central data warehouse but concerned about the time and expense. Those who want to own this internally right now or who want a partner to help them build this capability now; or provide this now for them to own in the future.
What is your magic sauce?
We’re an end-to-end platform that focuses on automating data pipelines. We ingest your data, help you transform, model and master it and execute this fast and cost effectively. We’re cloud-native and combine software with expertise in getting you to value fast.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
To make knowledge a commodity, not a privilege.
Connect to more data and create more value through both automation and creating more data usage opportunities for our customers.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
6 months after hiring our first VP of Sales the world shut down due to Covid. As a business we have navigated the challenges this has thrown up, like so many people around the world.
We learned resilience, had to adapt almost everything and our team helped each other through the personal and professional challenges this bought.
