Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester celebrate Manchester City FC’s title win!

They think it’s all over… it is now! Manchester City has been dominant throughout the Premier League this season and now they are officially crowned champions of the league.

The Manchester blue’s manager Pep Guardiola has applied the building blocks for success this year to bring the title home to the city, and LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester are keen to honour the phenomenal achievement with building blocks of their own.

The Master Model Builder was given the task of revamping the Etihad stadium in the attraction’s Miniland in celebration of the local team’s victory.

The famous football ground was surrounded by the ever-faithful mini figure fans celebrating the title win, dressed head to toe in the Manchester City football strip and waving blue flags to mark the occasion.

In addition, the Miniland stadium was visited by the blue’s celebration bus, complete with the attraction’s very own starting 11, as the Premier League trophy stood proudly on top of the ground dressed in the team’s baby blue ribbons.

However, with all the joy of the title celebrations, the end of the 2020/21 campaign also marks a sad moment in Manchester City history, as club icon and all-time top goal scorer Sergio Aguero will depart.

The Argentinian striker made his debut for City back in 2011 and announced earlier in the season that this would be his last in Man City colours. It’s been reported that the club are celebrating his career in the North West by building a statue of the 32-year-old outside the ground.

As such, LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester will also be honouring the City legend themselves by incorporating a LEGO Sergio Aguero statue into their stadium to mirror the one that eventually will be situated at the Etihad!

Craig Seedhouse, Legoland Discovery Centre Manchester’s General Manager said: “Everyone at the centre is so proud of what the Manchester City team has achieved, well, apart from the red supporters.

“The team deserve to be celebrated, so we are playing our part in contributing to the momentous occasion. Guests will be able to commemorate the occasion at the Discovery Centre once we reopen by taking pictures of the Etihad stadium and our mini figures enjoying the party!”

LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Manchester is set to reopen on May 17th and are following strict Covid-19 protocols including a reduced daily capacity, social distancing measures, enhanced cleaning and hygiene stations and request that all guests wear face masks within the indoor areas of the centre.
