Peyk, a London-based peer to peer delivery startup, has secured £1.2 million in funding led by series of business executives including the Founder of PureGym.

Nine weeks of lockdown have transformed London start up, Peyk, which has seen its turnover rocket by 60% as Londoners’ limited access to shops and each other has driven demand for this pioneering peer-to-peer delivery platform.

On a mission to revolutionise the courier service industry by normalising the concept of instant delivery Peyk, which is easily accessed via the web or Peyk app, offers the fastest, safest and most cost efficient way to send personal parcels from A to B in London.

The Uber or Deliveroo of instant person-to-person deliveries, Peyk empowers individuals and households in the capital to send or receive anything they wish (as long as it’s legal) via their own personal courier, known as a ‘Peyker’, who is only ever assigned one delivery job at a time. A service that has come into its own during the Covoid-19 lockdown.

Londoners have turned, in their droves, to the 24/7 instant delivery platform, using it to transport urgent medications, missing ingredients, important documents, short supply items such as toilet rolls, as well as other life necessities, Mother’s Day gifts, food parcels and love letters between friends and family, lovers and colleagues.

The new fundraising round was successfully closed by March 2021 as a result of its user number swell of 45% since the start of the quarantine. Business sign-ups to the service have also grown, generating a 60% uplift in corporate users, as pharmacies, grocery stores, hotel and restaurant chains and other merchants pivot their business to include a local delivery proposition.

Peyk founder and CEO, Salman Moghimi, brought the platform to London in September 2018, after his first-hand experience of trying to quickly send a personal package across the capital. At the time, his only options were to wait until the next day or to transport it himself, with neither option proving feasible in the circumstances. Moghimi found the experience so completely out of step with modern, on-demand, lifestyles that it inspired him to start Peyk.

Today, Peyk has the quickest pick-up time in the capital, with a dedicated Peyker arriving within 20 minutes of an order being placed, collecting and taking items such as forgotten keys, left behind credit cards and misplaced passports to a chosen destination. There are over 4,200 Peykers currently working in London, 80% of which are on bicycles and the rest on mopeds. All are guaranteed to be paid on the same-day as the jobs they complete.

Says Salman: “Peer-to-peer couriers are widely used across Asia and the Middle East, when sending things to friends and family. Peyk is now bringing a similar service to the capital, revolutionising the courier service industry and transforming the way Londoners send items to one another.

“Whether a user wants to send an important card to a family member, or finds themselves in a tricky situation without any keys, Peyk is the perfect the solution. Via just three clicks on our app, we can provide a personal courier to save the day and within 20 minutes an item will be en route to its destination.”

Given the nature of items sent via Peyk, providing a private, safe and reliable service is of paramount importance. Peyk’s unique security labels, seals and digital signatures guarantee that deliveries stay secure during transportation. Customers can also live-track their orders via the Peyk app, receiving live updates and notifications that track their parcel’s journey and, if any issues arise then these are handled by a 24/7 customer and driver support centre.

The business has also seen a 60% increase in the number of new Peykers signing up to deliver its service during the lockdown as Londoners made redundant or furloughed look to replace lost incomes.

Moghimi, who is 23 years old, adds: “The increase in demand that we have seen for Peyk during the lockdown, confirms that in today’s 24/7 world, individuals need to be able to send whatever they want, to whoever they want, wherever they want to across the city they live in and whenever they need to. We only see this accelerating post lock-down, as more and more Londoners successfully try, and love, our revolutionary delivery service.”

Peyk is the UK’s first instant 24/7 delivery platform, offering the fastest and most cost efficient way for sending anything from A to B, whether you’re an individual, business or merchant. Your personal Peyker is ready to take your forgotten keys, important documents, home-made food and other life necessities to a chosen destination in the capital at any time.
