Matthew Parker: Small and Independent Team of Patient Coordinators That Has Been an Evolving Business Since Our Launch in June 2015

July 31, 2022

Surgery Group is a small and independent team of patient coordinators that has been an evolving business since our launch in June 2015

With the support of some forward-thinking surgeons, we are able to present their collective locations and services under one brand, being Surgery Group.

We answer all those questions that you forget to ask at your consultation, and tell you the answers to the questions that you didn’t ask.

Our mission is to “Keep it Simple” for you the patient and for the talented physicians that we work with, so we only handle a handful of patients a week and don’t overload anybody. Every patient gets a personal service and a patient coordinator.

We are proud to work with some of the very best surgeons in the UK and will always offer the most direct and cost-effective route for people seeking hair transplant procedures in the UK.

Tell us about yourself?

Whilst working as a contractor for a cosmetic surgeon in London, I became aware that the people making the most money from the industry were in fact the salesmen and not the surgeon and his medical team.

This inspired me to register as a provider that worked directly for the surgeons without any sales staff. This way, it would be possible to significantly undercut existing providers whilst ensuring that the surgeon still received the same fee if not higher

If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?

I would advise myself not to price my product too cheaply in order to build a war chest to better prepare for the unexpected factors that can affect a business.

What problem does your business solve?

We provide high end hair transplant procedures and advise on hair loss

What is the inspiration behind your business?

The business was inspired by a desire to see that surgeons and medical team would be properly rewarded for their work by cutting out the salesmen and their cut.

What is your magic sauce?

Our magic formula is to “keep it simple” With no salesmen and no expense accounts. we do not offer consultations with unqualified salesmen

What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?

We hope to work with surgeons from other areas of cosmetic surgery. We currently focus on hair transplant procedures with a few forward-thinking surgeons. We aim to add other cosmetic procures to our range.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

Our biggest challenge has always been that we have a marketing budget one tenth the size of our competitors. Our acquisition cost for a surgery patient is one quarter of the amount allocated by our competitors and this formula means that we are 20% cheaper than provides offering the same procedure

How do people get involved/buy into your vision?

We welcome referrals from barbers and hair professionals around the UK
