It all started with a simple idea: to help businesses find their ideal customers online. And so, Straight Up Search was born.
If you’re like most business owners, you don’t have time to worry about optimising your website for search engines. That’s where Straight Up Search comes in.
We are a search marketing agency that specialises in organic growth strategies for small to medium sized businesses. In particular, we see the best results for our eCommerce clients.
Tell us about yourself?
I’m Jamie, and I founded Straight Up Search. I was working in the marketing industry and saw an opportunity to provide clients with better service and results.
I started Straight Up Search as a freelance endeavour, and today the company has six employees and more than 20 clients in four countries. The company has become one of the leading providers of search engine marketing services in the UK and is consistently delivering organic growth for its clients.
I’m passionate about helping businesses grow, and I am always looking for new ways to improve the services that Straight Up Search offers.
In addition to search engine marketing, the company also provides digital marketing consulting and training services.
This means that Jamie and his team are always up-to-date on the latest trends in digital marketing, specifically search marketing.
If you could go back in time a year or two, what piece of advice would you give yourself?
If I could go back in time and give myself some advice about growing my SEO business, I would say to be patient and not to give up. Growing a successful business takes time, dedication, and hard work.
There will be times when it feels like you’re not making any progress, but if you keep at it and don’t give up, eventually you will start to see results. Another piece of advice I would give myself is to focus on quality over quantity.
It’s better to have a few good clients that are happy with your work than a bunch of clients that are always demanding more without being satisfied.
If you can provide quality service and build strong relationships with your clients, they will be more likely to recommend you to others, which will help grow your business even more. Thanks for the advice, past me!
What problem does your business solve?
An organisation’s lack of visibility on search engines. We help businesses find their ideal customers online.
What is the inspiration behind your business?
I started my SEO agency because I wanted to help businesses grow their organic search traffic and ROI. After working in the SEO industry for a few years, I saw that many businesses were struggling to get the traffic and results they wanted.
They were using outdated methods or relying too heavily on paid advertising, and as a result, their organic channels were suffering.
I knew there had to be a better way, and that’s when I decided to start my own agency. My goal is to help businesses change their lives through organic SEO.
I want to help them grow their traffic, generate more leads and sales, and achieve their goals.
I believe that organic SEO is the best way to accomplish this, and I’m passionate about helping businesses succeed in this area. Honestly, I’m a people pleaser and a problem-solver by nature.
To quote my favourite character Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop, “I’m the Black Dog and when I bite I don’t let go.”
What is your magic sauce?
By avoiding the typical agency business model, we’re able to keep close to our client’s business and achieve the best results.
Taking this a step further – we heavily specialise in just search marketing (SEO) only – that way we get the best links, the best results possible from an organic search strategy.
Full disclosure, our magic sauce isn’t all that magic – we spend almost 5 figures on SEO related tools on a monthly basis. We just have lots of data and experience to drive our decision making.
What is the plan for the next 5 years? What do you want to achieve?
Here at Straight Up Search, we take a long-term view of our clients’ success. That’s why we’ve developed a five-year plan to grow our portfolio of clients and bulletproof our team of SEOs.
In the next five years, we’ll be focusing on three main areas: client acquisition, team development, and client retention.
To acquire new clients, we’ll be targeting companies in high-growth industries with a strong need for SEO services. To develop our team, we’ll be investing in training and education for our SEOs, so that they’re always at the top of their game.
And to retain our existing clients, we’ll be providing world-class customer service and delivering results that exceed their expectations.
By following this plan, we’re confident that we can continue to build Straight Up Search into the leading provider of SEO services.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?
As the saying goes, you can’t do everything yourself. At some point, you have to step back and let others take the lead. This is especially true in the world of search engine optimization (SEO).
As an SEO specialist, my personal challenge is stepping back from the doing and growing the team.
It’s difficult to go hands off in SEO, but it’s necessary in order to build a successful team. The first step is to identify what tasks can be delegated to others. Once that’s been determined, it’s important to provide clear instructions and expectations.
Finally, it’s crucial to let go and trust that the team will be able to handle the task at hand. It’s not easy, but it’s necessary in order to create a successful SEO team.
